The mirrored ceilings, glowing bar, record-lined dining rooms and theatrical open kitchen all feel natural and inevitable when you walk through Pamela. Behind that atmosphere sits an enormous amount of coordination, collaboration and attention to detail, ensuring every element works together seamlessly.
A Landmark Setting
Located within Berlin's landmark Quartier 205 by renowned architect Oswald Mathias Ungers and overlooking the iconic Gendarmenmarkt, Pamela occupies one of the city's most prestigious settings. Working alongside Big Mamma Group's in-house design team, Studio Kiki, Finkernagel Ross acted as local architects, helping translate a richly detailed design vision into a fully realised restaurant in the heart of Berlin.
Bringing the Vision to Life
The project was delivered to an ambitious programme, requiring close collaboration between designers, consultants and contractors from the outset. With construction progressing in parallel with the ongoing development and coordination of the design, our role extended beyond traditional architectural responsibilities. Through careful coordination and continuous dialogue with the project team, we helped ensure that the original design vision could be realised without compromise.
Behind the Reflection
One of the most technically challenging elements was the restaurant's mirrored ceiling, a defining feature of Studio Kiki's concept. Achieving the desired effect required balancing design ambition with practical constraints, including budget limitations, restricted ceiling heights and the integration of acoustic treatments, lighting, fire safety systems and building services. The final solution uses highly polished stainless steel to create the same sense of drama and reflection while working within the project's technical and commercial requirements.
